students at schoolIndiana students recently outperformed the nationwide average on the National Assessment of Educational Progress(NAEP). The assessment, often referred to as “The Nation’s Report Card,” measures the performance of fourth and eighth grade students in reading and math.

This year, Hoosier students ranked higher than the national average in all four categories.  Fourth-grade math was ranked 3rd while fourth-grade reading ranked 14th.  Eighth-grade students in Indiana ranked 10th in math and 15th in reading.

Indiana State Senator Randy Head said, “This is a great testament to the dedication of our teachers, students and parents here in the Hoosier State.”  He also encouraged students to “Keep up the good work!”
