Fire_training_Facility_1The Marshall County Jail Holding Corporation conducted their annual meeting Monday morning at 11 in the second floor meeting room of the county building.

The first order of business was to elect officers.  John Zentz motioned to retain the same officers, Kent Borggren President, Zentz as Vice President and Carol Brown as the Secretary.

The committee then discussed the possibility of having a training structure, primarily for fire departments located on county property, near the jail facility.  The structure would not be purchased by the county and the ground it sits on would remain the county’s.

County Attorney Jim Clevenger said, “I think it’s still being kicked about by fire and law enforcement folks and it would still have to be approved by the County Commissioners.

Captain Dan Butt said, “The Sheriff’s Department is for it.”  He explained the structure, which is build with shipping containers, some that are stacked on each other to provide multiple levels.

Holding Corporation VP John Zentz asked about liability for the facility and Commissioner Deb Griewank said she is looking into it with the county’s insurance provider, Gibson.

The Jail Holding Corporation approved a motion to support locating the structure on jail property with the commissioners to determine where it would be located and that the county would have no liability.
