TUCSON, ARIZONA – In their first games of the season outside, the Ancilla softball team ran their record to 3-0 with a double header sweep of Triton College by scores of 2-1 in eight innings and 11-3 in five innings.

Neither team scored in the first game until the eighth inning, when the game went into the international tie breaker. Morgan Peoni, who started the inning on second, moved to third on aBrittany Probasco ground out to the right side. After a walk by Abbey Renner, Peoni scored on a double steal. Renner later scored when a hard shot from Kayte Miller found its’ way through the legs of the Triton first baseman and into right field. Triton scored one in the bottom of the inning, but the Charger defense left the tying run stranded at third to preserve the win. Renner struck out twelve and allowed just two hits.

The Charger bats came alive in the second game, with outbursts of five runs in the first and four runs in the fourth. All total, Ancilla finished the game with thirteen hits. Peoni, Probasco, Renner,Mariah Miller, Kayte Miller, and Madyson Price all finished with two hits. Haley Miller led the Chargers with three RBI. Renner was again masterful in the circle, allowing just three hits and striking out ten. She did not allow an earned run in either game while pitching all thirteen innings.
