PLYMOUTH, IN –  The Lady Chargers defeated Grace College JV 25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 24-26, 15-13 in a nip and tuck game at Charger ArenaMonday night.

Charger sophomores Samantha Albers and Sophia Smith led the team with 12 and 11 kills respectively and Freshman Jill Brown and Victoria Bush added 11 and nine of their own. Brown also led in digs with 19 and Brenneman added 12 of her own. Smith added three block solos and one block assist.

Ancilla volleyball coach Lana Singleton commented, “I was super excited to have four girls right around the double digit mark in kills. Samantha Albers had a tremendous game for us and I am super excited to see her improvement. Our setters did a great job moving the ball around and giving their hitters plenty of opportunities to shine.”

“I was happy to see this team coming together the last two matches, learning to trust each other and be mentally tough in critical times,” remarked Singleton. “I am constantly challenging the team in practice to be able to come from behind and not have the mentality that it is over if they are down four or five points. Last night they really proved they have heart and determination to be able to overcome that. I am proud of the whole team and their efforts. I love it when they battle.”

The Lady Chargers play again on Tuesday at home as they take on South Suburban. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
