DONALDSON, IN – The Lady Chargers of Ancilla College lost to Grand Rapids Community College Tuesday night 24-26, 23-25, 14-25 to drop their record to 10-16.

Coach Singleton was especially happy with the efforts of her defense. “In sets one and two, our defense was all over the place, never giving up on the ball keeping so many points alive. Our libero, Natalee Walters, played a tremendous game.”

Walters was 21 for 23 in serve receive and had 22 digs. Jackie Friel had 14 assists and 15 digs, and Maddie Price had 11 assists and 10 digs. Jill Brown was perfect in serve receive going 22 for 22 and added 11 digs of her own. Sophia Smith had seven kills and 14 digs to put in a solid performance as well.

Coach Singleton added, “I have already mentioned our defense tonight but I also want to add that we really had a lot of good touches on blocks that slowed down the ball which aided in that. Grand Rapids is a strong offensive team and blocking team and I was really happy with what we did on offensive coverage tonight as well. It is always easier for our hitters to keep swinging if they know they are covered.”

The Lady Chargers play at home on Thursday against Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Game time is set for 6:30p.m.
