PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla College women’s basketball team claimed a Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference home victory over Glen Oaks Community College, 43-40.

Khadijah Moore led the Chargers (11-16, 3-11 MCCAA) with a double-double for the game, leading all scoring with 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. La’Fabian Coleman added 10 points for the chargers with five of her ten being scored in the last two minutes of the game. Michelle Detwiler also contributed 10 points for Ancilla.

Taylor Kuhnle made a catch off of an in-bound play and then fouled and cut the lead by Glen Oaks (13-12, 5-8 MCCAA) by two after making two free throws. On the last play of the game Ancilla’s Moore sprinted the floor with the ball in the remaining seconds and hit Coleman with a cross court pass allowing Coleman to make the winning three-point shot for the Chargers.

“This win was a total team effort,” said Ancilla head coach Tom Robbins. “Even the players who didn’t get to play in the game had a huge part. For two days in practice they ran the Glen Oaks’ set plays to prepare us defensively. In the game Irena James did a great job of stopping the penetration of their point guard. Taylor Kuhnle was in the lap of their best shooter all night to the point that she only shot one three. Khadijah Moore kept one of the best rebounders in the nation off the boards all night and then down the stretch of the game we showed a lot of belief in on another and a lot of toughness to get the win.”

The Ancilla women’s basketball team will be on the road Saturday at Muskegon Community College (15-9, 8-5 MCCAA). The team will return home on Wednesday, February 25 to take on the Jets of Jackson College (8-15, 6-7 MCCAA). Tip-Off is set for 5:30p.m.
