GOSHEN – It was a solid end to a great season for Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrims as they took an NLC road win at Goshen by a 34-18 final.

“We had a great season,” said Plymouth head coach Dave Duncan after the game. “That’s what I told the girls in the locker room, we had a great season now it’s time for us to get ready for the next season. Our next season starts tomorrow. We have to play a great team in Penn in the sectional and we’re goint to work hard and prepare for them.”

In preparation for that first round game in the sectional with Penn, the Lady Pilgrims made a few points in their final regular season game on the road. Number one a fast start. Very important in every Plynouth win it was again on this night as the Lady Pilgrims jumped to a 13-2 lead early.

Much of that fueled by another key point – defense and defensive pressure.

“I thought the whole team had a great first half defensively,” said Duncan. “We did a great job on switches and communication and I thought our inside kids did a great job fighting in there tonight.

And an exclamation point – Goshen was shut out by the Plymouth defense in the final quarter.

“Goshen is a good team,” said Duncan. “You come here and it’s a really tough place to play. I thought our kids did a nice job tonight.

“Second half Ithought some kids stepped up and did a great job for us – Kara (Morwood) came in and did a great job for us defensively and Shannon did an awesome job inside battling tonight.”

Really big as well was Freshman Allie Andrews who put up a big game with some crucial three’s when Goshen cut the Plymouth lead to six and providing solid minutes off the bench – something that will be essential in a little less than a week’s time.

“Allie came in and shot the ball really well for us tonight,” said Duncan. “ It’s nice to have a kid that can come off the bench and do that for you offensively but not just that – she does it defensively too. We’re going to need her in the tourney.”

Plymouth is now 16-6 heading to a first round match with Penn at the Plymouth sectional. Goshen is 10-12.
