On Thursday, May 28, LaPaz police initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Burger King. The vehicle was stopped for an unsafe start, after the officer observed the driver taking off at a high rate of speed, causing items to fall out of the bed of the truck onto Michigan Road.
During the stop, it was found that the driver, 34 year old Michael Gilley of LaPaz, was intoxicated. After a certified chemical test, he was incarcerated at the Marshall County Jail for OWI Endangering a Person and OWI .15% or Higher and held on a $1,505 cash bond.
