On Sunday, December 20th the Starke County Dispatch Center was notified that the Walkerton Police Department was looking for a vehicle that struck a utility pole and left the scene. Information indicated that the driver may be impaired.
A short time later Starke County Dispatch was advised that the suspect’s vehicle was eastbound in the westbound lane of US 30. A Starke County Sheriff’s officer located the suspect vehicle and a short pursuit ensued with the suspect vehicle finally stopping.
David Armstrong, 48 years old of LaPorte was transported to IU Starke Hospital for a blood draw and the preliminarily tested results were .27%. He was then transported to the Starke County Justice Center without incident.
Mr. Armstrong is preliminarily charged with OVWI with a prior charge, Reckless Driving, Obstruction of Traffic with use of a Vehicle and Resisting Law Enforcement.
