PrintWith the start of the school year close to three-weeks away, many Principals like Reid Gault of Lincoln Junior High School in Plymouth are back in the building preparing for the quickly approaching day where the bell will ring and students will once again fill the halls.

This will be Gault’s 20th year in education. He said prior to being the principal at Lincoln he taught for 11 years at a Middle School in Indianapolis. His educational career has also allowed him to serve as the assistant principal at Lincoln Junior High School and principal at Lowell Middle School.

Gault said, “All my work has been at the middle level and I love this age level!” He said his goal for each and every student at Lincoln is to have a great learning experience everyday!

As principal of Lincoln he said it is his goal to write a newsletter to parents every week. “This newsletter serves as communication to seventh and eight grade parents each and every week during the school year,” said Gault.

He went on to say, “It will highlight the great things that students are doing and provide parents with needed information to help students have a great experience while here at Lincoln.”

His first newsletter of the school year will include important information about upcoming events for Lincoln’s parents or guardians.

The first such meeting on the calendar is what Lincoln school officials have termed an “iParent Meeting.”

Gault said, “We are hosting iParent meetings on July 27 at 9 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.; “These meetings are informational meetings for parents regarding responsible student computer use and the school/home partnership in relationship to student computer use while at home and here at school.”

He said after attending the meetings parents will be given a voucher that they will present when they pick up their child’s computer. Computer pick up will take place immediately after each of the iParent meetings or parents can return on July 29 with the voucher and pick up their child’s computer during the school’s “Open School Day”.

“On Wednesday, July 29 we will open the doors from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for students to walk the school and find their way around and they can also practice getting into their lockers that are equipped with a combination lock,” said Gault.

Parents who are unable to attend one of the three “iParent” meetings are able to watch a brief informational video at Lincoln on July 29 that will allow their child to be issued their computer during the Open School Day event. Principal Gault said the informational video is condensed and highlights the main points of the iParent meeting. If parents do not choose to attend an iParent meeting or watch the video then students will get their computers the first week of school.

Another important date for both Lincoln Junior High parents and students is the annual “Back to School Night” on Monday, August 3.

“This is where we officially welcome parents and students back to school for the school year,” said Gault. He said, the “Back to School Night” will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Red Gym with a short meeting then students and parents can visit classrooms and teachers.

Students will be getting brand new P.E. Physical Education uniforms to wear during P.E. this school year! The uniforms will be available for $15 during the iParent meetings, Open School Day, Back to School Night, and students can also purchase a uniform during P.E. classes.

Other important upcoming dates to mark on your calendar for are:

Thursday, August 20is student picture day.

Friday, August 7 is the big back to school dance.

Gault said the dance is from 3:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. “We invite all students to come and we all have a great time,” said Gault.  The cost to attend is $3.00 and the dance is open to all Lincoln Junior High Students.

“I look forward to the upcoming school year and helping each student become the best they can be,” said Gault.
