Blazin BBQ_1Summer may be winding down but there is still plenty of great weather left so make plans today to attend the 3rd annual Marshall County Blazin’ BBQ and Bluegrass Cook-off Contest.   The fun begins this Friday evening September 18th from 5 until 9 p.m. and continues on Saturday from 10 until 4.

Dozens of BBQ teams from across the country will compete in a two day professional cooking completion sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.

Held in the beautiful Centennial Park in Plymouth, the event is free to the public and you are invited to watch and chat with the competitors, enjoy some great entertainment and purchase food from the venders.

Entertainment on Friday night begins with the Scalley Waggers from 6 to 7 and then the headliner for the evening will be Southern Straightway on the Langfeldt Concrete Stage  from 7:30 until 10.

New this year is the Blazin’ Beer Tasting on Friday night from 6 until 9. You must be 21 to enter and tickets are $20 for 20 tastes.  You can purchase tickets at the Marshall County Tourism Office or at the gate Friday evening.

Saturday the competition heats up with the Kansas City BBQ competition.  Also on the agenda is a tractor show hosted by the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce from 10 until 2.  Entertainment for the day includes the Stampede String Band from 11 to 12, Chad VanHerk from 1 till 2 and Square Dancing by the Marshall County Farm Bureau from 1 until 3.
