MCCO_2015 seasonMembers of the Marshall County Church Orchestra Small Group recently performed for the residents of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Facility.  The orchestra is made up of all volunteer musicians of various ages.  They are under the direction of Don Harness of Plymouth.  Orchestra rehearsals are well underway with the full orchestra meeting each Thursday evening at the R.E.M.C. building.

There are several small ensembles within the full orchestra.  These small groups often play at nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and for organizations where the full orchestra may not have room to set up.

While at Pilgrim Manor the Small Group played a variety of well known church hymns, Broadway and movie tunes, and patriotic favorites.  Harness always introduces the group and tells a bit about the history of the orchestra that began thirteen years ago.  Throughout the concert each person then introduces him/her self and tells about the instrument he or she plays.

The full orchestra is gearing up for a summer schedule of concerts that includes appearing at the Plymouth Farmer’s Market, Fairfield Garden Court, The Yellow River Festival and of course their annual Concert and Dessert held each November.  The group is also involved in planning a patriotic concert event for the Indiana 2016 Bi-Centennial Celebration.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra is always accepting new members.  Musicians of all ages and skill levels are welcome.  To find out more call Don Harness at 574-936-7357.
