MugShot_Casey HeckathornOn Monday, January 19th, at 7:18 p.m., the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a report of suspicious vehicle, believed to be involved in criminal activity behind the Speedway Gas Station located on US 6 in LaPaz.

Officer McFarland responded to the area and located the vehicle and people allegedly involved.  During the investigation Officer McFarland recovered what was believed to be heroin from 23 year old Casey Heckathorn from Macy,IN.

Heckathorn was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Possession of Heroin, a schedule I controlled substance, along with Possession of a Schedule II, controlled substance, believed to be Adderall.

The vehicle that Mr. Heckathorn was driving was secured and towed to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.  On Tuesday, January 20 a search warrant was obtained and executed on the vehicle.  Executing the search warrant, items believed to be associated with the use of heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia was found and secured.  A case report will be completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review and formal charges being complete.  Officer Jordan Rans, Officer Giordano along with Plymouth Officer Shanna Gilmore assisted at the scene and investigation.
