Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger said 41 year old Jeremy Hostetler of LaPaz was killed instantly early Sunday when he was struck by a westbound CSX freight train near the elevator in LaPaz.
The accident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office, Marshall County Police, and CSX Railroad police. These agencies were assisted by Lakeville-LaPaz EMS and Union North Township Fire Department.
Cleavenger said he was waiting for additional information from CSX police who are downloading video from the lead engine of the nearly mile long train. Toxicology tests on Mr. Hostetler were completed after the accident and results are expected later this week.
