NewsAs the economy continues to slowly rebound, more and more businesses are hiring.

In Marshall County, businesses say entry-level housing options are limited when recruiting employees.

Companies said that there is a need for a diverse housing environment in Marshall County at a recent round-table event.

On Tuesday morning, the Marshall County EconomicDevelopment Corporation sponsored an entry-level housing workshop.

A manager from the state’s housing authority presented several solutions to the problem.

“This is a wonderful problem to have,” says Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Director Jerry Chavez. “We enjoy the fact that Indiana led the Midwest in job creation. We’re seeing this here in job creation in Marshall County as well as going forward. It’s our job to make sure we are helping our existing businesses today and new businesses as they come in tomorrow.”

Chavez says more and more companies are now starting up in the county, and employees looking to re-locate need single family houses and apartments.

Some of the options the state offers to help cities or towns include grants, bonds, TIF districts and loans.

It just depends on the size of the project and the need of the community.
