Indiana State Police Master Trooper Lee Boone has reached the career milestone of 35 years of service with the department. Boone has spent his entire career working in northern Indiana for the state police first at the South Bend Post and then at the Bremen Post.
Boone was appointed to the department in 1979. He was originally assigned to the South Bend State Police Post out of the academy and eventually transferred to the new Bremen Post after the South Bend Post closed. Boone will mark year number 36 in August 2015.
Boone has remained very active within the department and has played an integral role in many of his assignments. Boone was a member of the Indiana State Police Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team for more than 20 years. During this time he spent 10 years as a team leader and 10 years as the Assistant Coordinator for the state. The CISM team is a peer support style program designed to assist emergency responders who are exposed to critical incidents. The team members are trained to help the first responder identify and cope with their responses to these stressors.
Boone also found great success working for the state police Drug Enforcement Section (DES) as an interdiction officer. Boone was assigned to the interdiction program at its inception in 1990. The interdiction program started with Boone dedicating one day a week to the specialized patrol but eventually grew into a fulltime assignment with troopers statewide. Boone spent 20 years working with the interdiction program and 3 years as a team leader.
During his career Boone was also a 15 year member of the Indiana State Police Tactical Intervention Platoon and has been certified as a Level 3 commercial vehicle inspector for more than 20 years. This specialized Level 3 certification gives Boone the ability to conduct inspections on commercial motor vehicle drivers.
A devout Christian and family man, Boone remains rooted in life deriving his strength from his faith. “The Lord is my strength and my life. I have been blessed with my wife of 41 years Elizabeth and we are the proud parents of 12 children,” Boone remarked.
