firework_ordinancePlymouth Mayor, Mark Senter wants to remind citizens of the city ordinance pertaining to the use of fireworks within the city limits.

In a news release on Monday he said, “Well, it’s that time of year again!  Fireworks will be a big part of our upcoming weekend.”    He continued, “Plymouth usually saves their fireworks’ energy for the Marshall County Blueberry Festival, so nothing is organized for The City, but there are other options.”  Those other options include the Swan Lake Resort who will be amusing the crowd on Friday July 3rd at dusk just south of the resort.  The Bremen Firemen’s Festival show will be on Saturday July 4th at dusk in Jane’s Park about 10 PM.

The local city ordinance on what you can and cannot do with your fireworks spell out the age requirement to purchase and possess or use fireworks at 18.  Fireworks can only be used on your property or the property of someone who has consented to the use of fireworks on their property.

The only time fireworks can be used, ignited, or discharged within the corporate limits of the City of Plymouth for the 4th of July holiday are June 29th and 30th and July 1st, 2nd, 3rd,5th,6th,7th,8th and 9th from 5 p.m. until 2 hours after sunset.   On July 4th fireworks are permitted between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight.

The penalty for a person in violation of this ordinance is a fine of $100 per violation.
