McCaslinELKHART, IN – Jimtown High School graduate, Kourtnie McCaslin, recently signed Letter of Intent to continue her cheerleading career at Ancilla College.

McCaslin, a base and backspot for the Jimmies, brings with her cheerleading experience from both football and basketball cheer. While on the varsity sideline cheer team, she was able to gain experience in half-time and time out routines, sideline chants, pep rally performances and knowledge on how to generate overall school spirit. As a senior, she also got the chance to cheer for the Jimtown football team as they competed in the Regional Tournament.

“Kourtnie is one of those girls that don’t come around often,” commented Jimtown High School Cheer Coach Jennifer Kerrn. “She brings an energy and outlook to life that makes everyone around her happy. She works hard and continuously impresses me with her dedication to her goals, and those around her.”

Outside of cheerleading, McCaslin was active in several extracurricular activities. She was a member of the art club, drama club, peers and FCA. She was in several musicals, a part of the prom committee and was named prom queen her senior year.

“The energy that Kourtnie has is contagious. Her love for cheer and her want to learn and grow in the sport is exactly the type of athlete that we want in our program here at Ancilla,” said Ancilla College Cheer Coach Kaylee King. “She will be a wonderful asset to our program both physically as a base/backspot and mentally as a leader and encourager. I look forward to having Kourtnie on the team this season.”

When asked why she felt that Ancilla was the right choice for her, McCaslin replied, “I really loved the small, personal atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and seem like they really want to help me be successful. On top of a great atmosphere, I am excited that I get to continue cheering at the college level.”
