Golden Girls Gone Wild sept 2015Each year during National Assisted Living Week the staff treats the resident to an afternoon of skits and or TV games shows.  In the past they have simulated the TV game shows “I’ve Got A Secret” and “Name That Tune”.  The actual fun of the event is the “surprise” celebrity guests who show up during the games.

This year the staff outdid themselves and performed a three act original skit titled “The Golden Girls Gone Wild”.  Activity Director Cindy Flagg wrote the script incorporating characteristics of different staff members that was easily recognizable as the four main characters acted out the skit.

Staff members portraying the original Golden Girls cast of characters were:  Tracie Sroka as Sophia; Anna Corbett as Rose; Angie Rice as Dorothy; and Christy Tolson as Blanche.  Randy Boos rounded out the cast playing himself as ‘the maintenance man”.

It was apparent the audience enjoyed the skit by the laughter throughout the 45 minute skit.  Flagg set the seen up by telling a bit of history concerning the popular hit TV shop of the 80’s.  She also reminded everyone the original Golden Girls first aired on NBC 30 years ago as of September 14th.

After the cast took their final bows, the audience and cast joined together singing the popular song “Thank You For Being A Friend”.  The song was written by Andrew Gold in 1978.  Cynthia Fee re-recorded it to serve as the TV show’s theme song in 1985.
