Chargers swept by Mott

 

DONALDSON – It was a tough Sunday for Ancilla’s Chargers as they lost two heartbreakers at home falling by a 4-3 score in game one and dropping the nightcap of the doubleheader 2-1 in eight innings.

 

The difference in game one was a solo home run from Bears shortstop Maverick Prine in the top of the seventh. Charger starting pitcher Dalton Clark left the game after one hitter, taking a line drive off the hand. Clayton Adamson came on to pitch six and a two thirds and was the tough luck loser.

 

The Chargers jumped to a 3-0 first inning lead but couldn’t hold on. Shay Hepler (Warsaw High School) had three hits in the game including a double. Adamson had two hits in his own cause.

 

Evan Vangordan (Blackford High School) gave the Chargers another outstanding pitching performance in game two going seven and a third striking out seven. He left in the eighth after a double by Mike Rinke scored the go ahead run in game two. Chase Smith (Frankton High School) faced and retired the final two hitters in the eighth.

 

Alex Nelson (Ben Davis High School) had two of the Chargers six hits in game two.
