Walking_tourThe Marshall County Museum is hosting a series of walking tours of historic downtown Plymouth, “Facts, Folktales & Facades.”  Tour guide Sue Irwin will lead groups and facilitate discussion about the interesting architectural history of downtown buildings, as well as reminisce about businesses that have occupied these buildings though the years beginning in the early 1900s.  The Thursday morning tours will divide downtown Plymouth into four sections with the dividing line running through North Michigan Street and Garro Street.

The first tour on Thursday, September 17 encompasses the southwest block, which includes the Museum, Wild Rose Moon, Dr. Plumlee’s office, Edward Jones, ASK for Flowers and Heartland Artists.  The one-block tour will highlight familiar community names of merchants and businesses from the past, as well as intriguing tidbits about the history of the downtown.   Tours will run for the subsequent three Thursdays:  September 24(Southeast block), October 1 (Northeast block) and October 8 (Northwest block).  All tours will start at 10 A.M. from the Marshall County Museum at 123 North Michigan Street.  For more information on the walking tours, please contact the Museum at 574-936-2306.
