encore_logoEncore Performing Arts will kick off the Music in the Park series with Living Proof this Friday. The band was a huge hit last year and is returning by popular demand. The group from Indianapolis is an eight-piece pop, R & B, dance band.

They have been called “a healthy dose of Earth, Wind & Fire with a side of Black-eyed Peas!” They have been on a ‘BEST OF” list or nominated for an award every year for the past ten years, including being named Indy’s Best Cover Band by NUVO News in Indianapolis; one of Indy’s Best Local Bands (NUVO); and, most recently, were voted Indy’s “Best Music” in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Living Proof BandThe group officially began in November 2002 as an all original band performing 30-45 minute sets of their own music often with two or three other bands on the bill. Within a few months, they decided they wanted to finance a CD of their music by playing covers. In June 2003, they did just that.

They began playing out at several popular live music venues in the Indianapolis area and haven’t looked back. Since then, they have released two original CDs “Price of a Dream” (2004) and “Feel Good Music” (2009) which received great reviews from music critics and peaked at #22 on the CMJ Music Charts.

And they’re keeping busy, currently playing about 125 shows a year.

The group is composed of Natalie Sutton and Michael D. Herring on vocals; Jordan Ghaim on trumpet; Jeff Libby on keyboards and vocals; Joe Maddox on drums; Adam Thompson on sax; Ben Rollans on bass; and David Hetrick on guitar. Keeping the sound alive is Joseph Dixon. One member has local roots. Jeff Libby may ring a bell as a local PHS graduate. Like them on Facebook (www.facebook.com/LivingProofMusic).

All Music in the Park concerts are in beautiful Centennial Park in the Young Amphitheater. Bring a lawn chair, your favorite beverage and a picnic to enjoy this special music in a delightful setting. If you don’t want to cook, Delta Theta Tau will once again be offering refreshments.

Gates open at 6:00 with the performance begin at 7:30. All tickets are $10 for adults with pre-sale available for $8.00. Children and students are free. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Encore Office, ASK for Flowers, Wagoner’s Music Shop, Martin’s Supermarket, Pilot News, Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Plymouth Park and Recreation Department and WTCA.
