Norwayne_1Plymouth has lost another business.  Jim Menis, owner of Norwayne Lumber confirmed Wednesday the recent closing of the Plymouth store.

More than 20 years ago Norwayne Lumber in North Judson expanded into the Marshall County/Plymouth community.  They purchased the Marshall County Manufacturing site at 700 West Jefferson Street and a few years later expanded with the purchase of the Marshall County Beverage facility to the west of them.

Norwayne_2Menis said, “Plymouth has been an activity community with lots of construction but in the past couple of years the contracting business seems to have slowed down.”   The closure of the store is “totally economics” according to Menis.  He said the location on West Jefferson Street in Plymouth was great claiming, “There’s four times more traffic along there a day than we have at our North Judson location in a week.”  He also commented on the cleanliness of the facility and large showroom.

Menis said his employees were “good hardworking individuals” and all have been able to find new jobs.

Norwayne_3When asked about future plans for the Plymouth site Menis said, “We are currently moving all the materials from the site to our North Judson Store and will try to sell or lease the property.
