Oregon-Davis jumped out to a 10 point lead and Argos could never recover falling in game two.

“I was a little worried even during our walk through at the school,” said Argos Coach Gordon Mosson. “We just seemed maybe a little too relaxed and not real focused on what we were trying to accomplish and get through. We have a very inexperienced team and we can’t just fall back on what some of these kids have been through because they just haven’t been through it in the sectional.”

Poor shooting early on by the Dragons and some solid execution by the Bobcats saw O-D in front 12-2 at the end of the first eight minutes. But instead of backing off the Dragons found a way to fight back within two at the end of three.

“Our guys stayed tough and it’s something we’ve done all year long,” said O-D head coach Joe Eskridge. “Early in the year we were in that position quite a few times and it went the other way. I can’t say enough about our guys hanging tough all the way to the end and I think that says a lot about them.”

Avenging a two point loss to the Dragons (10-13) early in the year the Bobcats (9-13) survived a big night by Javan Miller who led all scorers with 15 points. It was a 12-14 night at the free throw line for O-D that would be the big difference.

“We stayed with what we wanted to do and were able to execute down the stretch,” said Eskridge. “Hitting free throws at the end was really big for us too. I’m really proud of our guys.”

“We responded – like we really have all year – we just missed too many inside shots and too many free throws,” said Mosson. “Give O-D credit they played a nice game. They changed up their defenses on us. We are very limited in our outside shooting and I think that showed tonight.

“It’s been a good season. I’m proud of these kids. They came together as a team. I’ve got a couple of players who haven’t played in years. Are we disappointed – yea – but overall it’s been a good season.”
