The Tennis Court Project in Centennial Park took a step forward Monday night during the Plymouth Park Board meeting.

Park Board members reviewed two concepts created by Hebard and Hebard Architects which places the new tennis court facility on the current site but totally replaces them and brings the addition of pickle ball courts to the facility.  The park paid for this feasibility study to see if the concept of new courts that had previously been approved for the soccer field area would fit on the current site.   The concepts presented shows it is possible.

The only difference in the two options is an independent storage and concession facility on the south side of the new scourt or renovations to the Fryman Shelter to include a storage area, improve the restrooms and kitchen area to include a concession area.

Sarah Smith, a member of the tennis committee said during a review of the proposals with park representatives it was determined their recommendation would be option B which is the renovations to the Fryman Shelter.

Option B will place the four new pickle ball courts out into the current parking lot in front of the Fryman Shelter.   This will lengthen the access road to the parking area to the east where visitors will be able to enter the two parking lots.  It was also noted that the access road would move north about 7 to 10 feet.

TennisCourt_OptionAPhil Martin representing the Marshall County Blueberry Festival approved of the proposed changes including a slight move of the access road and the new parking area and renovations to the Fryman Shelter.
