Plymouth Community SchoolsPlymouth Community School Corporation is launching a new program that allows the students and staff to submit anonymous tips to law enforcement via the web.

Ted Brown, Director of Safety and Security at PCSC said his department is putting the finishing touches on the new internal online anonymous reporting system for PCSC to be ready to launch on the first day of the 2015-2016 school year.

“Students and staff who want to remain anonymous will soon be able to use our internal online system to report tips that will go directly to Corporal Bridget Hite, of the Plymouth Police Department,” said Brown. Cpl. Hite is the new Student Resource Officer assigned by PPD to work at both Plymouth High School and Lincoln Jr. High School this school year.

Brown said his PCSC security personal staff will be privileged to the information as well, but they too will not be able to track who sent the safety tip in via web nor will they be able to trace the IP address used where the tip originated.

“The system has been created to give our students and staff the option of reporting something they believe is possibly criminal in nature- that has already happened or they have reason to believe will happen soon,” said Brown.

Superintendent Dan Tyree said, “This new tool allows anyone within all 10 of our schools to report their safety concerns completely anonymously.”

He went on to say, “There is great potential in this program, which gives our staff and students the ability to text our security resources with information, but participation is key – it only will works if our students and staff will use it.”

School officials hope the system’s anonymity will spur more tips to the schools security.

Brown said, “Our goal with this technology is to make Plymouth Community School Corporation as safe as we can and at the same time we believe this service could strengthening our relationship with our students and staff through improved communication, awareness and participation.”

PSCS Students and staff will be informed of the new service during their first day back to school, which is Tuesday August 4th for teachers and the day following for students.
