Marianne PetersThe Marshall County Solid Waste District board held a special meeting Friday morning to select a new executive Director.

Following a grand jury indictment of two counts of theft in December Mike Good, the former Executive Director of Solid Waste resigned his position.  Since then the board has worked on the hiring process.

On Friday the board appointed Marianne Peters as the new Director.  Peters was hired by Good in November to fill the Educator’s position.  She has been a recycler at home with her family for many years. Peters also brought the recycling program to the Marshall County Blueberry Festival.

Also though she is knowledgeable on many aspect of recycling she does not have the required certifications.  The board informed Marianne that she will need to attain the required certifications.  For the next 90 days she will be on probation with 90% pay.  It was mentioned that they may extend the pay reduction until the certifications are obtained.

Board member Jon VanVactor reminded Peters that the position is salary with no comp time or overtime available.

The Solid Waste board also approved using the county’s hand book excluding the PERF portion.
