Plymouth traveled to Northwood on Monday for the 2nd Pink Out game of the season. Northwood held their own Strike Out Cancer evening where they honored a 5 year old girl battling cancer. As the contest began, Plymouth scored first when Bailey Brown earned a walk and Jillian Smith crushed an RBI double to deep center field. The ball looked to be a home run but it hit the top of the fence and bounced back into play.  In the bottom of the first, Northwood did battling of their own. Stillson led off with a single to centerfield and she worked her way around the bases to later score from 3rd on a wild pitch. Plymouth held the Panthers to one run for the inning and it remained tied. Ashley Shepperd started her stellar night when she was safe on a bunt single to start the 3rd inning. Zoe Keilman successfully executed a sacrificial hit and run allowing Shepperd to take 2 bases on the play. Bre Martin got on with a hit by a pitch, and Bailey Brown then executed a bunt and run to safely score Shepperd. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Plymouth left 2 standing that inning, but they battled back to play defense. Northwood scored 2 in the 4th to take the lead, and they later tacked on another insurance run in the 6th. This proved to be the final score, 2-4 Northwood. Overall Plymouth had 4 hits on the day with Ashley Shepperd going 3-3 all bunt singles. Bailey Hatfield pitched well despite the loss walking just 2 and striking out 2. Defensively Plymouth stepped it up and prevented several runs from scoring by coming through in pressure situations. Plymouth will close out the conference season on Wednesday when they host Northridge. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 start in Centennial Park.
