City NEwsEarlier this month the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals was unable to conduct their monthly meeting due to the lack of a quorum.

During this week’s Common Council meeting City Attorney Sean Surrisi suggested appointing alternates from the Plan commission to serve when needed on the BZA.  He said state statue allows such to assist with being able to having a quorum to conduct the city’s business.

Mayor Mark Senter said he would discuss the possibility with a couple of members of the Plan Commission to see if they would be willing to be alternatives.  It was noted that they would not have to regularly attend the meetings but since the BZA meeting is immediately following the Plan Commission meeting they would already be at the meeting site and able to fill-in.

It is anticipated that a couple alternatives will be appointed at the next Common Council meeting.

In other business the Common Council approved an agreement with the Marshall County Election Board for them to handle the municipal elections.  Each election, primary and general will cost the city $2,006.25.  The council also approved the 2015 transportation agreement with the Marshall County Council on Aging.  The $8,000 annual payment assists with transportation services for residents in the city.
