SJRMC-Render(72dpi)Saint Joseph Health System is pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the Emergency Department expansion at Plymouth Medical Center is complete.

The new Emergency Department will begin to see patients at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9. There will be no disruption in patient care as staff transitions to the new building. After the new addition opens, work will begin on Phase 2 of the project – renovating the previous space.

“We are excited to open this new space to our community,” said Loretta Schmidt, president, Plymouth Medical Center. “This new addition will help us transform emergency care in Marshall County and set the standard for care in our region.”

The new 8,000 square-foot Emergency Department increases bed capacity, streamlines emergency care and offers more privacy for patients. The entrance to the Emergency Department will be adjacent to the previous entrance.

The two-phase project will be completed by September at a total cost of $9 million.
