Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers in Plymouth, and those driving U.S. 30, now have a convenient way to ensure a fully-charged ride to their destination, with the installation of a new ChargePoint charging station in the Pine Creek Plaza parking lot. NIPSCO, Pine Creek Plaza (VanVactor Farms), and Mancino’s have teamed up to bring a Level II EV ChargePoint Charging Station to Plymouth. The next closest Public EV Charging Station is located 35 miles from here in Mishawaka.
According to research from InsideEVs.com, approximately 119,710 plug-in vehicles were sold in the United States in 2014, a 23 percent jump from 2013 and a 128 percent jump from 2012.
“We are always looking for ways to help bring new traffic to the Pine Creek Plaza,” Patty Wright, of VanVactor Farms, said, “and we knew adding this Station would make us a destination for EV Drivers.”
Tony Gamble, owner of Mancino’s added, “As an EV driver myself, I understand the need for more public charging stations in the area and when I discovered the NIPSCO program, I approached the VanVactor Family about teaming up to make this a reality for Plymouth. It is about ‘Building the Network’ to make EV ownership a little easier.”
NIPSCO offers the IN-Charge Around Town incentive program in conjunction with South Shore Clean Cities to offer an incentive to individuals and businesses to build an EV charging station network.
