PrintPlymouth High School announced its annual Super Sunday event for this Sunday, May 17.

Super Sunday is comprised of two special ceremonies for Plymouth High School students: the National Honor Society induction ceremony and the Academic Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

“I always look forward to Super Sunday each year,” said Jim Condon, Principal. “It provides Plymouth High School an opportunity to celebrate the success of our students who meet our high expectations and standards of integrity.  In addition to recognizing our students’ hard work and effort, we also show our gratitude to our parents for their efforts at home.”

The National Honor Society induction ceremony starts at 1:00 PM and will be held in the auditorium at PHS.  A cake and punch reception will immediately follow.

NHS president Jessica Stillson looks forward to honoring the 35 students who have been accepted.  “It is definitely an honor,” she said. “Students need to have leadership, character, scholarship, and service in order to be considered.”

“In addition, they are held to high standards both at school and in the community,” Stillson adds.  During the ceremony, inductees will acknowledge an inspirational person who has made a significant impact in the students’ lives. In addition, the National Honor Society will also announce the winner of the annual Plymouth High School Teacher of Excellence.  Social Studies teacher Dave Hatcher received the award last year.

At 3:00 PM, eleven departments will induct twelve students into the Academic Hall of Fame, which will be held in the cafeteria at PHS.  This year marks the 29th year of the ceremony, which began with the class of 1986.  Recipients of this award must have taken classes in the respective department for a minimum of eight trimesters and have a minimum of an “A” average.
