The Mayor acknowledged the new city clerk treasurer Jeanine Xaver who has completed her fifth month in office and said, “Positive financial stability.”

He took time to thank the council for making good decisions and said, “Positive legislation.”

Senter discussed the creative process for River Park Square and noted the grant award of $445,000 for the second phase of the Greenway Trail and will connect Founders Park to Gill Park and the new foot-bridge over the Yellow River and into the downtown park.  He also mentioned phase one of the all-inclusive playground in Packard Woods that will be added this spring and said, “Positive parks.”

Mayor Mark touched on economic development with new director Jerry Chavez who is working on job retention, creation and the Commerce Building noting, “Positive economic development.”

Other items in the Mayor’s State of the City were the addition of the Metronet, locally funded improvements at the Plymouth Municipal Airport and the $2.2 million grant from the FAA for the runway rehab project and runway widening.  He pledged $300,000 last year for additional street projects and said last night that he will seek another $300,000 with a significant part going towards the city’s alleys.

Senter mentioned Operation Bright Spot, a program first brought to the city in 2012 to address the dilapidated properties including homes and businesses.  The mayor said, “We have attained a few of our goals with Operation Bright Spot but we have a ways to go.”  He continued, “The near Westside of Plymouth is still a major goal of this administration.”

In closing Mayor Senter said, “I want to thank the 100 plus employees of Plymouth.  They all do an outstanding job and I hear nothing but praise while I am out and about in the city.”  He continued, “I commend each and every one of you for a job well done and I know you will keep up the great work.”

Senter said in his closing statement, “Operating a city of 10,000 plus depends on great teamwork and I want to thank the department heads for going above and beyond and for enthusiastically going out of their way to make the city a positive place to live and work.”

He then quoted Author George Will, “The future has a way of arriving unannounced!”  Senter said, “Ladies and gentlemen, the future is knocking on the door of Plymouth Indiana and together, with a positive attitude, we will answer it!”   “Positive Plymouth.”
