Plymouth Park Superintendent Mike Hite told members of the Plymouth Park Board, they were awarded a Department of Natural Resources LARE (Lake and River Enhancement) grant for the bank stabilization project. The grant in the amount of $50,000 will stabilize the riverbank along the Yellow River and the Greenway Trail in Centennial Park.
This month the Park Board selected a three member committee to review the Requests for Proposals received for the design and construction of the project. Jim Causey, Mike Kershner and newest member Allie Shook will review and rate the proposals
The LARE Grant funds will be available early next year and the bank stabilization project must be completed by 2017. The grant is an 80/20 split so the city will be responsible for $12,000.
The Park Board also formalized an addition to the contract for SEH for phase II of the Greenway Trail. The addition of $4,553.06 was to perform additional work related to the artifacts discovered in the field portion of the archaeological survey.
Park Superintendent Mike Hite noted that the state approved the additional work to which will be split 80/20.
The Park Board formalized a contract with Hebard & Hebard Architects in South Bend for the new tennis court project. The revised agreement includes the design and construction documentation phase including permitting for $40,300, the bid phase at $4,750 and the construction administration phase. Professional services fee for the construction administration will be submitted after bids have been received and the project is approved to move forward by the City of Plymouth.
