Plymouth Community SchoolsStarting this Saturday, students enrolled in the Plymouth Schools will have to complete work via the internet as a make-up day. The State of Indiana requires students to have instruction for 180 per school year; however, they have made some concessions in allowing school districts to use virtual days to makeup days that were cancelled due to inclement weather.

The Plymouth High School will be opened from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday; 9:00-3:00 Saturday; and 1:00-4:00 Sunday for any students who do not have access to the internet. Tyree indicated that there would be supervision at the high school at all times.

According to Superintendent Daniel Tyree, schools need to request virtual days each year from the state. For the 2015-2016 school year, virtual days will be built into the calendar.

Although students will be submitting work on the three virtual days scheduled in April and May this year, they will still have to attend an extra day of school. At this point, June 2 will be the last school day for students in grades K-8 and June 3, for students in grades 9-12. Tyree said, “We could have had more virtual days, but we ran into activities, like the prom, that were already on the calendar.”
