Plymouth Sky Sports

Indiana’s # 1 rated skydiving experience, Plymouth Sky Sports, is in jeopardy of going out of business.

Plymouth Sky Sports was opened in 2011 at the Plymouth Municipal Airport.  Owned by a United States Marine Corps veteran with a service-connected disability, PSS struggled the first 3 seasons before having their first profitable year in 2014.

Plymouth Sky Sports supports four full-time and up to six part-time workers throughout their season, generally early April through early November.

They understood the need for runway repair, the original estimate was 3 or 4 weeks of construction, during which time they would be able to use the grass taxiway as a runway.  The project’s scope increased, from repaving to rebuilding and widening, and the time the runway will be closed has extended to 9 weeks.  In addition, since the airport will be considered closed, they cannot use the grass taxiway as a runway.

Plymouth Sky Sports will have to check in customers and then take them to another local airport, about 25 minutes to take off in the airplane.  They will have to pay additional rent for storage of the airplane at the other airport during that time while simultaneously paying normal rent at Plymouth.  They estimate they will have to restrict their business volume by approximately 50% during that time to provide good customer service.

It is estimate they will lose $34,000 in revenue during the 9 weeks of construction, have $17,000 in additional expenses, and their team members will lose and estimated $14,000 of income.

Plymouth Sky Sports has supported charitable organizations since our inception, and in 2014 we donated approximately $8,000 in money and services to charities.

Plymouth Sky Sports support the runway project, as it is good for the airport, the City of Plymouth, the State of Indiana, and the United States of America.

In an effort to raise the funds needed to sustain the business during construction a Go Fund Me account has been set up.  http://www.gofundme.com/s28zsd8
