August 29th is right around the corner and that marks the day that Circle Track’s ground breaking Great American Racing Series will take to the dirt for the first time in their 6 race inaugural season with the Down-n-Dirty 125 at Plymouth Speedway.
Circle Track, the #1 Source for Advanced Racing Technology, recently announced that registration for the Down-n-Dirty 125 at Plymouth Speedway, the fourth race of their 2015 season, is now open. Discounted pre-registration runs through August 23, 2015, while the race is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2015. Potential competitors can download the entry form by visiting www.ctgars.com. Plymouth Speedway is located at 11631 12th Rd, Plymouth.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have our first visit to the dirt be at the Playground of Power – Plymouth Speedway,” said Circle Track General Manager, Rob Fisher. “When we announced this series at PRI last December a lot of people thought we were crazy. I heard ‘why would you want to pay a $30,000 purse to a bunch of street stock racers?’ I said ‘why not?’ they’re the backbone of this sport and they should have their own big money touring series. Well, when people found out that we were going to run on both dirt and asphalt they knew we were crazy…but that’s what we do at Circle Track, break boundaries.”
At 3/8ths of a mile, Plymouth is the same length as the previous stop on the tour, Kentucky Motor Speedway, but that’s where the similarities end. The Down-n-Dirty 125 will have 125 laps and feature many of the G.A.R.S. regulars but Circle Track staff is expecting a large contingency of local dirt racers to show up and try to poach some of the $30,000 purse for themselves.
After the Bluegrass 125 at Kentucky Motor Speedway, Shawn Smith took over first place in points by virtue of a third place finish. However, he is just one point ahead of second place Todd Kempf and Kempf holds that spot by just one point over Curtis Peeples in third. Brian Bayer and Roger Williams sit in the fourth and fifth spots respectively and are still very much in the hunt.
To date, Circle Track’s Great American Racing Series has hosted three events and has seen three different winners…will the Down-n-Dirty 125 at Plymouth see our first two time winner or will we welcome a fourth different winner. We’ll find out on August 29th.
Registration for Circle Track’s innovative G.A.R.S. membership program also continues. That program carries an annual fee of $60 which entitles members to 12 months of Circle Track magazine and additional participant accident excess insurance coverage, as well as reduced entry fees. G.A.R.S. members will enjoy a $75 registration fee (non-member price is $90) along with a $30 pit entry fee (non-member price is $35) at each of the six races.
