City NEwsMembers of the Plymouth Park Board were updated on activities by Superintendent Mike Hite during their meeting this week.

The rock fountain and splash pad in River Park Square have been turned on.  There are a few leaks in the fountain that are being addressed but everything survived the winter.  The water had been turned on in all the parks and spring cleanup is underway.  Hite said, “The grass is growing out of control.  We have hired some college workers and are working on getting caught up.”

Tony Gamble from the Freedom Park committee updated park board members on the restroom renovations at Packard Woods.  Several quotes were solicited and CMC Residential and Commercial Contracting had the best price.  Gamble noted that the renovation work will be paid for by the Freedom Park fund.

Bringing the restrooms up to ADA compliance will require changing the boy’s restroom from a two stall to a one stall and in the ladies they will remove one sink and one of the three stalls.  Other work includes a new metal roof, the addition of gutters, along with interior and exterior paint.

Clint Maddox from CMC asked to have joy johns brought in so the restrooms could be closed while the reno work is being done. He indicated the project would be completed much faster without having to work around keeping them open.  The park board approved.  They also approved allowing Freedom Park to make the renovations to the restrooms at Packard Woods.

The construction work on Freedom Park is underway.  Things are moving along on schedule.
