Pennies are rolling through the halls of Plymouth Schools. Students have been holding Penny Wars in fundraising efforts to help support the United Way of Marshall County (UWMC) 2015 Campaign. Classes compete with other classes in their school to see who can bring in the most “pennies” for United Way.
The penny wars, supported by local administrators and teachers, teach children about giving to help others in need with a lot of fun in the process. Students are able to see that even the simplest donation really does add up when everyone pitches in. The students’ entire donation goes to United Way of Marshall County to support education, health and financial stability programs and services in Marshall County through 24 Marshall County agencies.
Students from Jefferson Elementary and Washington Elementary Schools in Plymouth were able to raise a combined donation of $1158.86 for United Way. 2015 United Way Campaign Co-Chairperson Susan Wagner was on hand to congratulate and thank students at both schools on “an outstanding job and victorious effort.” More results will be posted as Penny Wars finish.
