IMG_0734The Plymouth girls golf team competed in the East Noble Invitational at the challenging Noble Hawk golf links in Kendallville on Saturday.  The ladies continued their successful start to the season firing a season best 362 en route to their second, 2nd place finish of the week in an invitational.

Senior Miranda Dunn did what seniors are expected to do…lead by example, hit the big putts, and raise their play when the competition is at it’s best.  Randi’s 79 was her season best, good for 3rd overall, and a mere shot away from taking home Medalist honors.  Playing the much tougher back nine, Randi closed her fine round with a bang making a birdie on the par 5 18th hole, her second on the back nine, to card an excellent 36 (1-over par).
Junior Katie Johnson continued her solid play firing her season best 89, out 47 – in 42.  Katie’s round featured several pars sandwiched between some rough patches.  Her ability to grind and bounce back time after time was excellent today!  Key to her round was a bounce back birdie on #6.  After a triple at #5 she hit a decent drive and knocked her approach to within 8 feet.  Draining the birdie putt gave her confidence to continue to grind especially on the back nine.
I was very proud of sophomore Emily Cochern who switched to a varsity lineup spot at the last second.  She fired her season best round 108 today!  Her positive attitude and play gave us a very reputable fifth score while also buoying the other players spirits.
Our JV players competed hard today and gained priceless experience against a Varsity field on a Regional caliber golf course.  Playing her first 18 hole event freshman Julia Marohn lead the JV with a 105.
After a very busy and successful week the girls get a week of practice before the next tournament – next Saturday at Chippendale in Kokomo.
