jennifer scottWednesday morning about 1:45 A.M. an officer with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation in the area of Michigan and 4A Roads. The vehicle was occupied by two female subjects.

The driver, Jennifer N. Scott of South Bend had an Indiana license that was suspended.    A small baggie of white powder was located during the impound search of the vehicle near the driver’s seat. The white powder was field tested and showed a positive result as cocaine.

A further search also revealed that Scott was in possession of another controlled substance and she was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail and held on a $3,005 bond.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
