The second grade classrooms at Triton Elementary School held the annual Spider Beauty Contest. There were many beautiful contestants and picking a winner from each class was difficult. When the students finished their voting, Cohen Stayton and his contestant, Jack were proclaimed the winners in Mrs. Biddle’s class. In Mrs. Phenix’s/Mrs. Horsmon’s class the winner was Sierra Hawley with Cooper. Stephanie Miller and her spider, Isabella, won top honors in Mrs. Voreis’ classroom. The classes then took the contestants outside and let them go to live happily and free. We all celebrated spiders by learning interesting facts about them. We read stories, made art projects, studied spider body parts and told many wonderful spider stories. Area spiders are now safe until next year!
