On Thursday, September 24th officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department along with K9 Terror, conducted a 4 hour saturated patrol detail along US 30 attempting to locate Illegal drugs being transported through Starke County.
During this detail Starke County Officers stopped Jonathan Porter, 32 years old from Illinois for a traffic violation. K9 Terror indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and officers located Marijuana. Mr. Porter is being charged with Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams. He was issued a citation and court date and released from the scene.
Bryan Flowers 32 years old of LaPorte was stopped for a traffic violation. He failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit ended on US 30 and Cr 600 W in LaPorte County. Bryan Flowers has been charged for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief. He also had 2 active warrants from LaPorte County and Allen County. His bond was set at $100,000 surety plus the 2 active warrants.
Kevin Reading 21 years old of Attica was also stopped for a traffic violation. K9 Terror indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search was conducted and officers located Cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Kevin Reading has been charged with Driving while Suspended with a Prior, Possession of Cocaine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia, and an active warrant out of Porter County. Mr. Reading’s Bond was set at $1550 cash plus the hold for Porter County warrant.
Both passengers in Kevin Reading’s vehicle, 21 year old Courtney Dale and 26 year old Jon Kopf both of LaPorte were charged with Possession of Cocaine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia. Kopf’s bond was set at $1550.00 cash and a hold for Jasper County . Courtney Dale posted a $1250.00 cash bond and was released.
