On Monday, December 28th, at approximately 11:30 in the evening a Starke County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on US 35 just north of US 30. As the vehicle stopped, the front seat passenger opened the door and fled across a field to the northeast.

StarkeCounty_MugShot_1The deputy instructed the suspect to stop several times, however the suspect continued to flee. He then contacted Starke County Dispatch and requested assistance and detained the driver of the vehicle.

Detective Sargeant Adam Gray and K9 Zardoz were called to the scene and within minutes of arrival Zardoz tracked the suspect for approximately 150 yards and located him hiding under some metal near a garage.

Earl W. Beem Jr. 33 years old of Knox was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Starke County Jail. Mr. Beem had an active Felony Parole Warrant and also Resisting Law Enforcement.   He was held on no bond.

StarkeCounty_MugShot_2The driver of the vehicle, 31 year old Jeffery K. Manns of North Judson was arrested on False Informing and traffic related offenses and posted a $200.00 cash bond and was released .
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Knox City Police Department and Indiana State Police.
