StarkeCountySheriffStarke County Sheriff’s Office has implemented an online crime map for its residents.

Starke County Sheriff’s Office partnered WTH GIS to provide the service and make it easier for their residents to keep track of crime in their area or neighborhood.

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office computer software syncs with the crime records system to automatically upload crime information and keep it updated on the map. Starke County residents can view crimes near their home, school, work or other area of interest. Starke County residents who use the “Starke County Crime Map” can make more informed decisions regarding where they live, shop, play and other important daily choices regarding their personal safety.

In addition to the crime map, Starke County Crime Map allows citizens to sign up for daily or weekly e-mail reports of recent crime activity. This allows the public to stay informed simply by logging into their e-mail system. The reports list each crime within a certain distance from the user’s address for the past day , week or even monthly. A e-mail sign-up form is available on the Starke County Crime Map makes it easy for the residents to sign up for crime reports.

Starke County Sheriff’s Office realizes that crime isn’t just occurring in the county and is sharing crime reports for residents of Knox, North Judson and Hamlet. The crime mapping reports helps Police Officer’s and residents to stay up-to-date about crime in their area.

To access Starke County Sheriff’s Office Crime Mapper system:

1. Log into www.co.starke.in.us

2. Click on “Starke County GIS” This will be in the lower right hand corner of the webpage

3. You are now on the Starke County Public GIS site. http://thinkopengis.starke.in.wthengineering.com/

4. Click on the button at the top of the screen labeled “CRIME”

5. On the left side of the webpage you can select data ranges to display data to the map. 6. On the left side of the webpage you may also subscribe to receive email alerts for crime in your neighborhood.
