A bunch of Blueberries_Boys&GirlsClubAnother sculptured blueberry through “A Bunch of Blueberries in Marshall County” has been sponsored through the Gibson Insurance Group. Thank you to Art Jacobs who initiated the idea at Gibson. With each blueberry now being sponsored a $300. donation is given to the Boys and Girls Club in Plymouth.

The Plymouth Chamber of Commerce hosted Shelley Heiden (A Bunch of Blueberries in MC), Billie Treber (Boys and Girls Club) and Art Jacobs (Gibson Insurance Group) at Wednesday morning’s Chamber Meeting. Art Jacobs presented Billie Treber with the donation check for $300 for the Boys and Girls Club.

The objective of the blueberry sculptures is to give businesses and organizations a unique way to invest in this community by placing ‘Art on the Streets’, support our area artists, and our Boys and Girls Club.

These 3′ x 3′ sculptures are painted by area artists and add color and design to many sidewalks, business locations and in the parks. Thank you to the following groups and individuals who have already invested in them: Heartland Artist Gallery, Dairy Queen, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Marshall County Blueberry Festival, Heiden Creative and Stillson Studio, Marshall County Community Foundation and Marshall County United Way, Tri Kappa, Fernbaugh’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, Yoders Sports Center, Pilot News, Robertson-Cook Agency, Allison Kara State Farm, Kings Jewelry, Shirley Casbon, The Remembrance Centre, Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Heiden Creative and Claudia Button.

There are three more blueberries being painted now and will show themselves in the spring, sponsored by the: Plymouth Municipal Airport, ITAMCO and Gibson Insurance Group.

The community has been so supportive of this effort, they have suggested other places to place the blueberries – in front of the courthouse, centennial park, in front of the Chamber and Tourism offices,in front of the schools and on every corner downtown. Sponsors may choose where the painted blueberry will be located, in front of their business, home or other locations. Sponsors may choose an artist they know or we offer any of Heartland Artists to paint the blueberry. The artists bring your idea to life of what you want on the blueberry or they can offer you ideas if needed. A sponsor plaque is placed on the base of the blueberry with the sponsor’s name, artist name, and title of the blueberry.

These sculptures are protected by two coats of automotive acrylic coating and will weather the elements for years. We would like to thank Lincolnway Auto Body for coating the blueberries and also thank Transmit Mix for donating the cement bases for the blueberries.

Applications for sponsoring blueberries can be picked up at the Chamber, MC Tourism and sponsor locations. Or you can call Shelley Heiden at 274-4376 for more information. Looking to make ‘A Bunch of Blueberries in Marshall County’ bigger!
