Argos_SplashPad_groundbreaking Argos Splach Pad_1The Argos Splash Pad has so far been a huge hit with children and adults, opening just in time for the Argos 4th-A-bration.

Argos town employees continue working towards the completion of the Splash Pad.  Although closed Wednesday to allow newly poured concrete to dry, the employees were back in action once again working hard.

The Argos Splash pad uses unfiltered water, meaning it comes out fresh continuously, with no recirculation. Plenty of research was done before groundbreaking actually occurred. Argos staff were able to go on a “field trip” to visit other splash pads in the area and talk with the developers which were very forthcoming with their ups and downs of their own. This information allowed the Town of Argos to develop a splash pad that might see less future issues than others.

The Argos Town Superintendent presented the idea to the boards in hopes of gaining approval which was given.   Superintendent, James Burroughs said the total cost of the project came in somewhere near $73,000.  With a little help from his friends, he was able to raise approximately $40,000 of that projected cost. His wife, Donna Burroughs, graciously took on the job of grant writing which helped the town obtain $25,000 towards this project. Other donations came in the form of a Go Fund Me account, word of mouth, and donation buckets.

Although a cool day on Wednesday, the boys were working up a sweat while getting things done.
