HistoricalSociety_annual dinner2015Tickets to the Marshall County Historical Society Annual Dinner on Tuesday, May 12 at 6 PM at Christo’s Banquet Center in Plymouth are on sale at the Marshall County Museum.  The event features award-winning actor and storyteller, Jeff Kuehl, who will be portraying legendary Hoosier hero, Carl Fisher.  Fisher, an entrepreneurial promotional genius and visionary who came of age during the dawn of the automobile revolution in the late 1800s and early 1900s, is remembered for his many contributions to Indiana.  Some of his most noteworthy accomplishments included, building the Indianapolis 500, developing the idea of a coast-to-coast highways; such as cofounding the Lincoln/Dixie Highways, as well as his many and varied business ventures and outlandish promotions that earned him the nickname, “Crazy Carl.”

 

Actor/storyteller, Jeff Kuehl, a regular performer at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, started his interest in telling stories as a teenager doing dinners, school programs and community events.  Since then he has worked professionally at festivals, parks, historical societies, fundraisers, and annual banquets playing different characters such as James Whitcomb Riley  at the Lilly Theatre inside the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.  He first worked with the Lincoln Highway Association to recreate Carl Fisher and has appeared as Mr. Fisher in various venues around the Midwest.  He spent some time in Los Angeles as a member of the Group Repertory Theatre, where he was nominated for a Robby Award in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama category.

 

Tickets for the May 12th dinner and program are available at the Marshall County Museum.  Members of the Historical Society can purchase tickets for $25 or $30 for nonmembers.  Groups can reserve tables if they arrange it in advance.  The social hour will begin at 6 PM, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM and the featured speaker after the dinner.  Contact the Museum for tickets to the 44th MCHS Annual Dinner at 574-936-2306, or email the museum atmlangdon@mchistoricalsociety.org.
