Plymouth and Warsaw Softball engaged in a fierce battle Friday at Centennial Park. Warsaw scored 2 runs to start the game, but Plymouth fired right back and tied the ball game scoring 2 runs with 2 outs in the 1st inning. Warsaw regained the lead in the 2nd inning to make the score 5-2. In the bottom of the 3rd inning Plymouth scored 2 more runs with a hit by pitch and single from Ashley Shepperd to make it 5-4. Shoemaker for Warsaw started the 4th inning with a triple and later scored on an RBI single from Glass. With 7 runs, Warsaw had the lead but Plymouth spent the next 3 innings shrinking that lead.

In the 4th inning Mackenzie Derifield got on base and scored on a double from Bailey Hatfield. Jillian Smith then had an RBI single to bring the game to within 1 run. In the 6th inning Bailey Brown worked her way around to 3rd base, but she couldn’t cross home. The 7th inning was the most hopeful for Plymouth as Jillian Smith led off the inning with a line drive single. Hayley Brown followed suit and reached first as the winning run. Mimi Southwell then grounded to the shortstop and Warsaw managed to get a double play. At first the call was a triple play, but after discussion, Plymouth had one final shot. Unfortunately Plymouth didn’t get the bounce and the game ended with the one run differential. Batting highlights included Jillian Smith who was 3-4 with an RBI and 1 run, while Bailey Hatfield was 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
