Plymouth headed to Triton on Saturday for a JV/Varsity double header. Both Plymouth teams took the lead first but Triton battled from behind to walk away with the win. In the Varsity game, Triton threatened to score in the first 2 innings by loading the bases but the Plymouth defense was flawless and prevented any runs from being scored. Plymouth broke open the tie ball game in the 3rd inning when Kristen McNeal started the inning with a lead off single. She then stole 2nd base and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball. Mackenzie Derifield drew a walk and later scored when Ashley Shepperd put a bunt down the 1st base line. McNeal scored on the single from Shepperd and Derifield scored as Triton threw the ball around. Zoe Keilman then hit a grounder to score Shepperd and give the Pilgrims a 3-0 lead. Triton came back in the bottom of the 3rd with a vengeance and scored 5 runs. Triton tacked on 2 runs in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th to achieve a 10-3 win. Bailey Brown was the only Pilgrim with 2 hits on the day. Plymouth will wrap up conference in the coming week playing at Northwood on Monday and hosting Northridge on WednesdayMonday’s game will be a pink out like earlier in the year. Northwood is hosting their own Strike Out Cancer game, so fans are encouraged to wear pink!
